VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A Williams Lake woman named Connie was chosen as the grand prize winner of the PNE prize home Monday evening.

PNE President Shelley Frost called Connie to give her the good news, saying arrangements will be made to get Connie to Surrey for a tour.

As for Connie’s reaction?

“Oh my goodness! Thank you!” she said, adding her family is as shocked as she is.

“I don’t know what to say. It’s so breathtaking!”

For the first time in a long time, the home is on the Lower Mainalnd. While previous prize homes were built and displayed at the fairgrounds, and then dismantled and moved to locations like Pemberton or Naramata. This year, the home is in Surrey’s McNally Creek neighbourhood.

“We decided since we’re not going to build the house on-site and then rebuild it at a final location — it gave us an opportunity to look at the budget a little bit differently, and we decided that we could, for the first time in a really long time, have a home in the Lower Mainland,” PNE President Shelley Frost previously told NEWS 1130.

“People have told us that they want to be able to stay in the Lower Mainland, and that’s it’s an awesome opportunity. It’s close to parks, it’s within walking distance down to the beach.”

The home has 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms and is valued at $1.8 million.
