‘A long time coming’: Manslaughter charge in death of Carson Crimeni at Langley skate park

Two years after the tragic death of 14-year-old Carson Crimeni at a Langley skate park, a charge of manslaughter has been laid.

LANGLEY (NEWS 1130) – Two years after the tragic death of 14-year-old Carson Crimeni at a Langley skate park, a charge of manslaughter has been laid.

A 20-year-old man has been charged, after RCMP say he surrendered himself to police. He cannot be named, as he was underage at the time of Carson’s death.

The teenager died Aug. 7, 2019 at the Walnut Grove skate park of an apparent overdose, while he was with a group of older teens, who are believed to have filmed the incident instead of helping him. His final moments were shared on social media.

RCMP say investigators spoke to more than 100 witnesses and received more than 100 tips in the case.

Carson’s father, Aron Crimeni, says it’s extremely emotional to learn someone’s been charged in his son’s death.

“My head’s been spinning ever since I heard,” said Crimeni. “Happy, relieved … there’s so many words. I’ve been literally consumed by this for two years now.”

“This has been a long time coming,” he added.

He personally believes more than one person should be charged, given there were several people with Carson at the time.
