B.C. Girl Guides return in-person cookie sales

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — If you’re craving a sweet treat you’re in luck. The B.C. Girl Guides are back to selling cookies in person for the first time since the pandemic this weekend.

This weekend Girl Guides will be selling their popular vanilla and chocolate cookies.

“We are excited to have our girls out in our communities across B.C. selling cookies, to their friends, to their family, to their neighbours,” Diamond Isinger with the group says, adding you’ll be able to buy the sweet snacks with proceeds going to help fund the program.

The guides will be physically distancing, selling cookies outside local stores and door to door to friends and family.

Through the pandemic, retailers stepped in to help the guides out by giving the cookies shelf space in their stores.

But Isinger adds, “We’re really excited to return to that model of sale and to give girls that opportunity to connect with their communities.”

“We know that girls gain a lot of valuable skills through the sale of cookies. They gain confidence, they gain understanding of money management, they can set goals of their own.”

If you want to get your hands on a box, in a few weeks there will be a Cookie Finder Map on the Girl Guides website.
