NANAIMO (NEWS 1130) — A junior football team on Vancouver Island is out $15,000 worth of equipment after their locker room was broken into last week.
Nanaimo RCMP says one or more suspects entered the VI Raiders’ facility in Nanaimo either Tuesday night or Wednesday and made off with six duffle bags full of gear.
Among the items stolen: 80 practice jerseys, numerous pads and footballs, and 10 brand new black helmets with red face cages.
“This is a significant loss to a very important Nanaimo sporting institution that has brought a lot of joy to the community, said Nanaimo RCMP Const. Simon Gallimore.”
