SQUAMISH (NEWS 1130) — Police dogs and search and rescue teams are looking for a missing teenager in Squamish.

A 15-year-old was reported missing Sept. 22. from his home in the Garibaldi Highlands area near The Crescent and University Blvd.

Squamish RCMP say he went to bed at 10 p.m. the night before and when his family looked for him the next morning, they couldn’t find him.

RCMP say the disappearance is out of character and his family is concerned for his well-being.

Crews are asking members of the public to join the search for Stelmack on Friday.

He is 5’5″ and 100 lbs. He has has brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing brown plaid pajama pants and a long sleeve red shirt with the “RVCA” logo on the front.

Squamish Search and Rescue are asking members of the public to join in the search for him on Friday. Volunteers are asked to meet at the Quest University soccer field at 10 a.m.

People living in the Quest University and Highlands area are asked to search their yards, shed, and garages, and to call police if they find any trace of the missing teen.

“We don’t believe he’s in the mountains, we believe he is in the urban area of Garibaldi Highlands in Squamish. However it’s still quite chilly, still quite damp at night. Our hope is that he has hunkered down and is hiding as people sometimes do… We don’t have any reason to believe that there’s a negative outcome,” BJ Chute with Squamish Search and Rescue said Thursday morning.

“We had 50 or 60 volunteer search members along with our local fire department, ambulance service, the RCMP has been extremely involved,” he said about the efforts to find the teenager.

Please notify police immediately at 604-892-6100 or 911 if you know of his whereabouts.
