NANAIMO (NEWS 1130) — The ballots have all now been counted in Nanaimo-Ladysmith, and the New Democrats have picked up a seat.
Lisa Marie Barron has topped her Conservative competitor, Tamara Kronis, by just over a thousand votes.
4/4 I am ready, and excited to join @theJagmeetSingh and the #NDP team, to deliver the strong voice this riding has asked for and to fight for the change our country needs as your new Member of Parliament for Nanaimo-Ladysmith.

This concludes a hard-fought campaign for the seat, which had been held by the Green Party’s Paul Manly.
The Nanaimo-Ladysmith seat is a traditional NDP stronghold and saw leader Jagmeet Singh travel their to campaign on behalf of its candidate.
For the Greens, it represents another disappointment in a campaign that saw their support nationally drop below that of the People’s Party.
