VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Three Vancouver Police officers have been charged in connection to an arrest that happened over four years ago at Commercial-Broadway Skytrain station.
On May 24, 2017, a cyclist was stopped by police while he was riding without a helmet, lights, or suitable reflectors.
He took off and was hurt during a struggle with the arresting officers, according to B.C.’s police watchdog, which forwarded a report to the B.C. Prosecution Service (BCPS) for a consideration of charges.
On Friday, those charges were laid against Const. Brandon Blue, Const. Beau Spencer, and Const. Gregory Jackson.
Charges approved against 3 @VancouverPD officers accused of hurting a man during his May 2017 arrest at the Commercial-Broadway SkyTrain station.
All 3 officers due in court October 25th.

Blue has been charged with assault causing bodily harm. Spencer and Jackson have been charged with assault.
“The charge assessment process in this case was significantly delayed due to the complexity of the issues, the volume of initial disclosure, BCPS requests for further information, and subsequent receipt of additional disclosure,” reads a statement from Dan McLaughlin, Communications Counsel for the BCPS.
They’re all still on active duty, but slated to appear in Vancouver Provincial Court on Oct. 25.
By approving the charges, McLaughlin says the B.C. Prosecution Service “must be satisfied there is a substantial likelihood of conviction based on the evidence gathered by the IIO and that the prosecution is in the public interest.”
