Vancouver hit and run victim left with serious head injuries

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A man was seriously hurt after he was hit by an SUV in East Vancouver this week.

The 30-year-old victim was crossing E. 41st Ave. at Fraser St. at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday when he was hit by a vehicle heading west. Police say the driver took off without stopping.

The man who was hit is still in the hospital with life-threatening head injuries.

Police believe the suspect vehicle is a dark-coloured 2016 Mazda CX-5.

“The suspect vehicle will have damage to the front passenger side,” said Const. Tania Visintin, adding investigators are urging the driver to come forward.

“Our Collision Investigation Unit continues to gather evidence and are confident they will find the driver responsible.”

A black pick-up truck is believed to have been in the area at the time. Police are also asking the driver of that vehicle, who may have witnessed the collision, to give them a call.

Witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage from the area can contact the VPD Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
