About Michael

Michael spent the first years of his life in Coquitlam before moving to Victoria as a 5-year-old. That's where his love of weather originated. The Kuss family spent a lot of time outdoors in the elements camping or salmon fishing or both. Michael first studied at the University of Victoria before discovering meteorology as a career. He has degrees in both Meteorology and Journalism from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. Michael has been forecasting the weather for almost 25 years. He worked as Chief Meteorologist at Global and City TV in Toronto for almost 10 years after stints in Edmonton, Red Deer and at the Weather Network. Kuss came back to B.C. in 2010 and has been doing his best to master the tricky local microclimates around the Lower Mainland. Michael lives in North Vancouver with his wife and 3 kids. He's the communications director of the Grouse Mountain Tyee Ski Club and coaches several youth soccer and baseball teams on the North Shore. He still plays soccer, some pickup basketball and loves to mountain bike when he can squeeze a ride in.
