About Monika

Monika Gul has been with CityNews Vancouver since 2017. Born and raised in Toronto, Monika's journalism career has taken her through Canada, with each job opportunity bringing her closer to the West Coast. After earning her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from York University and Post-Graduate Certificate in Broadcast Journalism from Seneca College in 2014, Monika moved to Thompson, Manitoba where she was a reporter and anchor at 102.9 CHTM, telling the stories of the mining town's people and exploring Indigenous and Northern issues. In 2016, Monika moved to Kelowna, where she was a reporter and anchor at AM 1150. She spent two years in the Okanagan, covering some of BC's biggest stories from the frontlines, including the record floods and wildfires of 2017. When not in the newsroom or out covering a story, Monika can be found running on the seawall, reading a book, or shopping around Granville Island's Public Market.
