NEWS 1130 and RBC present the 5th Annual “An Evening in Damascus”, a fundraiser in support of Rainbow Refugee Society.   Take an elegant trip on the Silk Road from marvelous Vancouver to the heart of Damascus.   Guests will be transported into the alleyways of old Damascus; you’ll taste Syrian food, while you immerse yourself in the music, all while supporting an great cause.

Tickets include two complimentary drinks, an Open Buffet of Syrian food made by the women of Tayybeh and Entertainment including belly dancer Rahel and drag queens Karmella Barr, Kendall Gendr and Rose Butch.

Over the past five years, this event has raised $100K to fund the safe passage of Syrian queer refugees to come to Canada; and this year you get to meet our newly arriving Canadian siblings! Your support has enabled the arrival of those folks, and it’s time for you to shake hands with them!

As always, all the funds raised in this event will go to support one of Rainbow Refugee’s Circles of Hope: This organization works tirelessly on helping LGBTQ-identified refugees.

Accessibility information:

The Event space is wheelchair accessible. There is also an accessible bathroom.

ASL will also be available.

This event is organized by Ahmad Danny Ramadan, Award-Winning Author, Public Speaker and LGBTQ-Refugees Activist.
