Science World Innovation Canada 150 Festival @ Telus World of Science
Jan 19 @ 9:00 pm – Feb 3 @ 8:24 pm
Science World Innovation Canada 150 Festival @ Telus World of Science | Vancouver | British Columbia | Canada

Science World and Innovation150 are organizing a city-wide celebration of innovation for Canada’s 150th anniversary. Innovation Festival: Vancouver includes travelling exhibitions, talks, tours, camps and other exciting activities that showcase Canadian innovation in action.

Innovation Festivals offer exciting events and activities for Canadian youth, families and communities in major urban areas across the country. They include the travelling exhibitions and talks associated with the Innovation150 initiative, as well as programming from dozens of community partners.

As part of the Festival, Science World will be hosting QUANTUM: The Exhibition from January 19 to February 26, 2017. QUANTUM: The Exhibition will explore how researchers are merging quantum mechanics and information technology to create the technologies that will revolutionize and define the 21st century—and how many Canadian researchers are leading the way.

In addition, the Power of Ideas Tour will stop in Vancouver from January 19 to the 24, 2017. It will explore the incredible ability of the human mind to question, make and innovate. The Power of Ideas Tour will bring cutting-edge, hands-on programming in science, technology, engineering and more, with a special focus on youth and Indigenous audiences.

Pride Sports Day and Pride Run @ Stanley Park/Second Beach

Vancouver Frontrunners are hosting their annual Pride Run and Walk. The Run and Walk is a 5 to 10 km walk in the beautiful Stanley Park. Money raised from the Run and Walk goes to Vancouver Frontrunner’s community beneficiaries, Out in Schools and the LOUD Foundation Scholarships.

After the Pride Run and Walk, Pride Sports Day will be in full swing! Sports Day will bring together members of the LGBTQ2+ community and their allies together for a fun, active, and inclusive day of celebration at Second Beach.

This event is free to the public, and includes family-friendly activities. Pride Sports Day will include live music, a variety of sports and recreational activities, a 19+ beer garden, a sober picnic space hosted by Last Door Recovery Society, vendors, food trucks and community groups. For further fun, Pride Sports Day will be partnering with all three local, professional sports teams for this year’s event: the Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, and Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

ASL Interpretation is booked for the day. We ask that all attendees help make Pride Sports Day a scent-reduced space. Please refrain from using perfumes, colognes, and strongly scented products.
