B.C. schools are suspended indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The nearly 1,500 kids we serve will not be returning to class as planned, and their parents who rely on school breakfast and lunch programs to feed them, are scrambling to make ends meet.
We are no longer facing a weekend hunger gap – it’s a 7 day hunger gap. We need your help to fill it.
Since April 3rd we have been delivering emergency food to hungry kids in neighbourhoods all over Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island. We’ve even sent food to Port Hardy for the first time. With a new and creative delivery system now in place, we’re committed to feeding kids while protecting the healthy and safety of our staff, volunteers and recipient families.
Thanks to the generous support of people like you, we are now feeding more kids than ever before. The needs of vulnerable families have grown significantly. Those who faced food insecurity before the pandemic are now navigating real and ongoing threats to their mental and physical health, their livelihoods and the support networks they depend on.
Your compassion is ensuring that all our neighbours are cared for during this challenging time.
All it takes is $15 to cover the costs of an enhanced bag of food. In addition to the 6 meals and snacks our kids would normally receive over the weekend, we are adding extra snacks, meals and whole foods including pasta, rice, soups, canned proteins and other pantry staples. As always, everything we pack will be kid-friendly, accessible and easy to prepare.
