Early morning rescue on Mt. Seymour

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – A man fractured his leg while camping on Mount Seymour early Sunday morning and had to be helped off the mountain by fire crews.

The man was on an annual overnight trip with a group of friends, and had to be carried out before he was loaded onto an ambulance.

Jeremy Duncan with the North Vancouver Fire Department says they aren’t sure how he got hurt in the first place.

“I mean it is night camping in the snow, so he might have just slipped his footing, that would be only speculation,” he told NEWS 1130.

He says the rescue happened at around 3:30 a.m., but no matter the time, you should always be prepared.

“From what I was told, they were prepared for a night of camping, but you’re not necessarily always prepared for an emergency like this, or proper first aid, or an extended stay.”
