BC Ferries employee hospitalized after getting hurt on the job

VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) – A BC Ferries employee is in the hospital after getting hurt on the Queen of Cowichan Saturday morning.
“The employee was injured while on duty on the car deck with the bow door, and the employee was taken to hospital by ambulance,” Chelsea Carlson with BC Ferries tells NEWS 1130.
BC Ferries hasn’t disclosed how the worker got hurt or how bad their injuries are.

The incident prompted the cancellation of the 8:25 a.m. leaving Horseshoe Bay and the 10:40 a.m. leaving Departure Bay this morning but BC Ferries says things are now back to normal.
Both BC Ferries and Worksafe BC are investigating what happened.
Brandon Phillips, who was on board at the time of the incident, says the vessel had problems docking before he heard something crash and some people scream.
“I had seen there was an issue with the ramp, and from the sounds of one of the employee, they must of had an unfortunate accident,” he says.
