More than $42,000 raised for kids who lost parents on Salt Spring Island

SALT SPRING ISLAND (NEWS 1130) — The community of Salt Spring Island is rallying behind three young boys who lost their parents in a murder-suicide this week.

Jennifer Quesnel passed away on Monday shortly after she was found badly injured in a home.

Her husband was found dead.

A gofundme page says friends and family of hers are trying to wade through the senseless and life-altering loss, adding she was taken away at a time when she felt positive about her future.

“She had new dreams and aspirations and felt positive about her future,” the page reads. “No one will feel the loss more than her sons Jake, Dan and John Jr and the family has set up a trust fund to continue to care for and support Jennifer’s sons as they work through both the emotional and financial strains of losing both of their parents.”

Quesnel is described as “an equestrian, a mother, wife, sister, daughter, teacher, and friend to everyone that knew her.”

Gifts, food, and kindness have poured in for the family from loved ones, stranger, and other islanders, says the page, and has been “beyond appreciated and brings comfort in these dark times.”

By Friday afternoon, more than $42,000 had been raised.
