Delta Police spent $42K on consulting firm in aftermath of incident involving chief’s wife

DELTA (NEWS 1130) – The Delta Police Department is revealing it spent $42,000 to hire a consulting firm to help deal with communications about an investigation involving the chief’s wife.

Lorraine Dubord was investigated in June, 2020 after an incident on her property during which she was filmed insulting a woman before spraying her with a hose.

The police department says it’s revealing the cost of the contract after getting a Freedom of Information request, adding they regularly hire external experts on a variety of areas — as other police departments and cities do.

“The DPD works hard to be fiscally responsible and is continually looking for efficiencies and costs savings while maintaining safe community,” reads a statement from Deputy Chief Harj Sidhu.

He says the cost of hiring the consulting firm was managed within the department’s 2020 budget.

“The contract with the firm was set up by former Deputy Chief Norm Lipinski, and he consulted directly with the firm. The terms of the contract were to assist the DPD with communications regarding a complex and unusual set of circumstances,” Sidhu said.

Dubord offered an apology after the video of the altercation on the waterfront outside her Centennial Beach home surfaced.

She did not end of facing criminal charges.
