Big White party attendees asked to self monitor for COVID-19 symptoms

KELOWNA (NEWS 1130) — Interior Health is out with an advisory for anyone who was at that large, rowdy party at a restaurant at Big White this week.

While no cases of the virus have been linked to the large gathering so far, the Interior Health Authority says those who were at Charley Victoria’s on Monday have “put themselves at risk of contracting” the virus as cases rise in the region.

“As such, we are asking anyone who was at this recent event to monitor themselves closely for symptoms of COVID-19,” the advisory issued on Friday said. “Individuals who have symptoms should arrange to get a COVID-19 test immediately.”

Video of the party went viral earlier this week and showed dozens of people packed at the restaurant without masks and without distancing.

The owner has since apologized, but Big White is still planning to evict the restaurant.

A number of staff at the ski resort near Kelowna were fired.
